Local residents acted with anger at the debate arranged by local resident Dr Sarah Perrigo when MP Fabian Hamilton failed to show up for a debate against other Parliamentary Candidates on the subject of parliamentary reform.

"Fabian's representative first stated Fabian couldn't attend because of a prior engagement but then later implied he was unhappy about attending as he believed he'd be quizzed about his expenses. Either way it;s disappointing." said Paul Dymond of North East Leeds Conservatives.

Matthew Lobley commented "I received the invite weeks beforehand stating that he [Fabian Hamilton] had agreed to attend. The invite asked if I would therefore come along, so it seems strange for him to have a prior engagement. Anyway, I hope there are many more such debates in the future on everything from MPs expenses to the economy"
