Matthew Lobley was recently asked to represent the Conservative Party at a British Youth Council debate in Leeds.
"It was a great debate with the sort of intelligent questions I have come to expect from young, switched-on people," commented Matthew. "It also provided an opportunity to hold a former Government Minister to task for some of the decisions and actions in the past."
Mr Blunkett tried to rubbish Matthew's assertion that Government debt had risen to the equivalent to every man woman and child in Leeds (761,000 people at the last census) all won £2 million on the lottery simultaneously. "No one can picture £1.4 trillion but people can understand £2miilion and what it would be like if everyone in your house, street, neighbourhood and city won that amount. We are on the brink of financial collapse, make no mistake. How can it be we spend more on servicing our debt than educating our children?"
The debate covered everything from favourite 'Death Metal' bands to student tuition fees.
